Vouchers

As part of the reauthorization of No Child Left Behind scheduled this year, there is interest on Capitol Hill in reinstating the very successful Washington DC school voucher plan that was scuttled by the Democrats and Obama Administration.  That program had provided an option to at risk students in notoriously low performing DC schools.  Former Congressman and current Chairman of Colorado's State Board of Education Bob Schaffer challenges Congress to "Don't Stop at D.C."  In a guest column in National Journal, Schaffer writes, "Congress should reach out to youngsters throughout the rest of the country who are similarly trapped beneath the tight and heavy webbing of federal bureaucracy."  Read his entire article here.
